Dehumidifiers

We solve humidity in the crawlspace by:

Sealing the outside air from getting into the crawlspace and then maintain a constant temperature and the Relative Humidity year round with a dehumidifier. We then seal off all vents, installing an Aprilaire dehumidifier installing a 15-20 mil white woven vapor barrier with seams taped to create a unified barrier on the ground. Full encapsulations include wrapping the walls and columns with the white liner and anchoring to the foundation wall and caulking the rim to seal. We leave 3“exposed below the band sill of the home for code so termite treatment can be administered. After that we install an Aprilaire dehumidifier that is rated for the amount of cubic square foot. In the crawlspace with a condensation pump, an exit line on its own dedicated breaker and outlet.
If you’ve noticed a damp feeling in the house, moldy closets, or musty odors, you probably have crawl space moisture. Up to half of the air in your house can come into the house from the crawl space due to the Stack Effect.

Stack Effect – aka the chimney effect – as warm air rises it pulls the air upward and creations a suction, whereby sucking air from the lower extremities of the house, including the crawl space, floor vents, doors, windows or other minor openings.
